In earlier days, Gerrit Zomerdijk was permitted to built a house and grocery shop in a very rural area. The house was built in 1934, and was considered a modern building in this period... it's style is related to the "Amsterdamse school".His clients in the shop have mostly been the farmers from the neighbourhood.
In 1954 Gert and Nel Kemper took over the Zomerdijk grocery shop and in 1975, when the recreation area was made part of the larger area of Spaarnwoude, Gert and Nel Kemper started their famous terras with coffee, icecreams and refreshments.
They have worked the terrace untill 2005 and with the help of the children they served the immens crowds of people who came here on summerdays...
In 2009 Gert and Nel both passed away, and we as the current owners, Ellen Kemper ( their daughter) and current chef Huub Sleper took over...
we are very proud to maintain this house with our proffession as chef and we hope you will visit us to feel the atmosphere and eat a nice meal in Villa Zomerdijk.
